The Sanders Armory Complete AR15 18″ 6MM ARC Match Grade Upper Assembly with Side Charge Upper receiver includes an 18″ Match Grade 6MM ARC 416R Stainless Steel Tapered HBAR Match Grade barrel with 1:7.8 Twist 5R rifling, is hand-lapped and air gauge tested. It is equipped with a low-profile Steel .750 Gas Block with Nitride Finish and a Stainless Steel Rifle Length Gas Tube. The Free Float Ultra Slim Line MLOK Handguard has a full line top rail. The 6MM ARC (.136) Nitride BCG with Hardened Phosphate Bolt and Extractor. The upper receiver is an AR15 / M16 Mil-Spec Billet Upper Receiver, the Receiver is milled from 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum, is precision machined to mil-spec M16/M4 specifications, and features M4 feed.

AR15 BILLET 6MM ARC AMBI Side Charge Upper Receiver with Nitride BCG

The Sanders Armory AR15 BILLET AMBI Side Charge Upper Receiver - 6MM ARC is a custom receiver made from 7075 T6 Grade Billet Aluminum with Mil-A-8625 Type III Hard Coat Anodized Finish and M4 Feed Ramps. This side-charge upper receiver will fit and accept any AR15 Mil-Spec lower receiver and barrel. The Bolt Carrier Group (BCG) is a dedicated custom AMBI Side Charge AR15 Mil-Spec Nitride Bolt Carrier that permits a charging knob to be inserted on either the left or right side for ease of use.  The bolt carrier includes a Mil-Spec AR15 6MM ARC bolt head (.136). The Bolt is “true” Mil-Spec dimension, and external surfaces are CNC ground after heat treatment for a precision fit and made with case Hardened 9310 Steel with Phosphate per MIL-STD-171, Hardened 4340 cam pin, Mil-Spec firing pin made of 8740 steel, center-less ground and Hard Chrome coated, the Side-Charge Handles are fortified and made of 4140 Chrome Moly with a Nitride Finish. The Sanders Armory 18" Match Grade 6MM ARC 416R Stainless Steel Barrel with Tapered HBAR profile with 1:7.8 Twist Rate is a MEDIUM weight HBAR barrel with Rifle-Length Gas and 5R Rifling. The tapered HBAR precision barrel has been hand lapped and air gauge tested with 5R rifling for long-distance shooting with below Sub MOA guarantee. We use M4 Barrel extensions with a manufacturer's Limited Lifetime warranty against manufacturers' defects. It uses a .750 Gas Block with a Rifle Length Gas tube.

WHAT IS 5R RIFLING?

Retired Army man, Barrett “Boots” Obermeyer developed 5R rifling as a gunsmith in his family’s store. Boots holds a High Master Classification in both high-power rifle disciplines, is a Distinguished Rifleman, and has won numerous shooting awards at both state and national levels. The best definition of 5R rifling comes from “Boots” himself …

“5R is the form of rifling I developed for use in most target barrels, and in many sporting barrels,” he explained. “These barrels have 5 grooves, and the lands have angular sides. I have observed that bullet jackets will deform such that they remain closer to the R-form lands than they will to the sharp-edged lands present in conventional-style rifling. This reduces powder fouling at the corner of the grooves. The angled form of the lands also helps to reduce jacket failures in quick-twist barrels.”

The diagram above of rifling profiles shows the difference between traditional rifling (top) and 5R rifling (bottom). Because the edges of 5R are not square, they don’t cut into bullet jackets as much and, with 5R rifling the lands are opposite of grooves, while with traditional rifling, lands are opposite lands and grooves are opposite grooves.
